Ladies in Glass Slippers

Such a tizzy on the lawn
ere the crowning of the dawn,
as tiny feet on woodland lanes
twinkle soft with sweet refrains
…softer than the tulip’s chime
…sweeter than a rose’s clime
where fairest ladies in glass slippers
dance beneath the sky’s bright dippers.

Woebegone their frets and cares,
rescued by the prince of air,
sweet Cinderellas, all a blush,
splashing scent as petals brush
…fairer than a thousand rhymes
…brighter than the stars sublime
as fairest ladies in glass slippers
dance amid the sky’s bright dippers.

Nimble winds most wicked play
as violins and harps sashay–
windblown flowers all a bliss
delirious with midnight’s kiss.
Moon begins his bedward climb
as Dawn puts on her dress in time
to see her orchids in glass slippers
… whisked away by dashing dippers!
